This scheme of live/work units for a developer consists of a combination of two and three storey units on a tight, triangular backland site in Greenwich in East London. The live/work units range in size from 80-200 square metres and there is also a small, shared resource building on the road frontage.
The units are organised around the perimeter of the site to create a shared courtyard space, and the three storey units along the rear of the site help to protect the overall development from the noise of the railway line that runs along the line of this boundary. On the other side of the courtyard the two storey units relate to the adjacent two storey, semi-detached houses that front the adjacent road.
The buildings consist of clearly expressed steel frames with a combination of fixed, glazed infill panels and hardwood ventilation panels and external doors.
