This large, suspended light box was developed for the Crafts Council 'Making Buildings' touring exhibition, which opened at the new Walsall Art Gallery before travelling to London and other venues in England and Wales.
The purpose of the exhibition was to explore the relationship between how buildings are conceived and how they are actually constructed. Exhibitors included crafts people, artists, designers and architects, including Thomas Heatherwick, Kathryn Findlay, Sarah Wigglesworth and John Pawson.
This installation allowed us to investigate the meaning of lightness and solidity, and how free-standing objects change the perception of the surrounding space.
The light box was constructed as a braced softwood frame, clad in polycarbonate sheeting and suspended on stainless steel cables.
