Community Centre

This new community centre was designed for a site adjacent to St Mary's Church  in West London. The centre, which will be run by members of the church, will provide 525 square metres of purpose-designed accommodation, including a nursery, a unit serving the homeless and a large multi-purpose hall for use by all sectors of the community.  A central kitchen will serve all these activities.

 

The scheme also provides a sheltered garden and much more generous and tree-lined public circulation along Neasden Lane.  In particular, immediately in front of the new centre, a new public square will be created to give access both to the Church and the centre as well as to the public footpath that leads to the west.

 

The single storey, steel framed, building will be clad externally in glass and vertical timber boarding.
